Mountain States Retired Racehorse Rehoming
Welcome to Mountain States Retired Racehorse Rehoming!

Our Mission
Mountain States Retired Racehorse Rehoming is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in Strasburg, CO, dedicated to providing new homes for off-track thoroughbreds in Colorado and throughout the surrounding states. Our mission is to promote the well-being of these athletic animals and find them loving and supportive environments where they can thrive in a second career. Donate, and view our adoptable horses and more below.

MSRRR has recently become 'Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance" accredited. We were 1 of 9 that earned accreditation for the 1st time in 2025.

We are proud recipients of the Thoroughbred Charities of America 2025 Grant. Click the image to learn more about our partner.

We are excited to announce we are now partnered with CANTER. We hope to help increase the visibility of the horses retiring from Arapahoe find their next career.

CUHA works in collaboration with equine organizations, horse rescues, veterinarians, and state agencies to raise awareness about unwanted horses and the importance of responsible horse ownership. They promote research to better understand the scope of the unwanted horse problem, and we provide financial support to organizations to help them feed, shelter, care for, and train abandoned horses and improve their chances of being adopted. We are a proud partner and 2025 grant recipient.
Our Initiatives
We are dedicated to various projects aimed at improving the lives of retired racehorses. These initiatives not only help in rehoming efforts but also promote education and advocacy for horse welfare.
Race
At the track
We begin by sourcing horses through our connections at multiple tracks across the US.
Retire
At the farm
Once horses arrive at our farm just east of Denver, their bodies get some well deserved downtime and turnout to relax. Horses also are vetted and rehabbed (if needed) during this time.
Retrain
In the saddle
After resting and rehabbing, horses are evaluated on the ground and under saddle to determine suitability for a new home.
Rehome
In your barn
After finding the right match horses go home with their new owners. We pull in a variety of horses so reach out to see if we have something that might be a good fit.
